Canal evening 5th augustThis one could have gone any which way as the canal produced in the final hour of a closely fought contest between several who were in contention for the top spot ON THE NIGHT AND IN THE LAEGUE . Bookies favourite for the LEAGUE Dave Finnegan was nowhere in the places for the latest match !!! Big fish bust experienced anglers with ease and canal record holder Steve Avignue (2009 , 28LB !!!! ) suffered the heartache of losing two unstoppables leaving him trailing in second place with 5lb 10 oz as the Roach and Perch came into there own on the Pop Shop length. Several others had good evening weights to back up but noone was able to catch venue specialist Andy Lumb with his 6lb 10 oz *( Did hemp and tares play a role here??-ed)
Canal League Final Places Well what a series!! This has been a closely fought set of matches with only 8 points separating the top 6 anglers! Commiserations to John Holdsworth with 113 points for second place (AGAIN) and Match Sec Steve Mitch with 110 for third and congrats to local tackle shop dealer and committee man Dave Finnegan for a table topping 116.
Final Rileys Pond League MatchSaturday the 14th of August should see a similarly close fought affair
Rileys Pond league 24/7/2010 Another contest hit by the holidays as 19 anglers balled it out to take good bags of fish throughout. No one really nailed em but 24lb 10oz for rileys regular "Griff" was enogh to beat a strong field by a wide margin. same story for lots of folk with bigger fish escaping into the marginal weed or around the refuges with some of the best simply seeing off goood anglers. second place john holdsworth with 16 lb 6oz will be wondering whether a double league title is on the cards...or will he have to wait till next season?? third place steve oddy had 13lb 12oz with a bag of fish typical of the way the pond is fishing at present..every one has a chance !!!
