Match Results

Our April match on the pond was a familiar struggle with some anglers not staying to weigh in as the bitter cold wind got the better of them and the fish. However  “Blaggy”did manage to catch 9lb and was closely followed by G Ibbotson  with 8lb 14oz  and in third place was Steve Oddy with 5lb.

ALL OUR RIVER WATER IS CLOSED FROM THE 15TH MARCH UNTIL 25TH MARCH - BOTH DATES INCLUSIVE FROM THE 26TH MARCH UNTIL THE 15 TH JUNE FISHING FOR TROUT IS OPEN ON THE RIVERS BUT WITH MINNOW ,FLY, WORM AND ARTIFICIAL LURE ONLY

Riley’s pond 29th march 2008

The  match winner -Sean Auty had 22lb of carp with 6 pound needed for second and third at 4 pound after that a lot struggled to catch....A PITY AS PLEASURE ANGLERS HAVE BEEN CATCHING STEADILY.

We look forward to the match next month when the water should have warmed up considerably and more fish are active.

Match Results will appear here as soon as they arrive.

Results of the Christmas match were pretty much as expected by last years winner -Steve Crossley who thought that 49 out of the 56 anglers booked on would blank!  This year it was the turn of local tackle shop owner Dave Finnegan to take the winning plaudits for a roach catch of 3lb 6oz off the much fancied basin at Elland.  The place to be was the high wall in the Market as three of the top six came from this well-favoured section and everyone caught.

Not much to choose between the rest as even the Gasworks (last years top stretch) and the Willows (this winters hotspot) failed to produce any nets worthy of the quality anglers that took part. Worst was the Pop shop where only one fish was caught but the angler wasn`t in the optional pools so one lucky man (Mr smith-yes really!)took the section money on a lucky ticket draw.  What is more he also took the raffle prize !

Thanks to Steve Mitchell for all his hard work and the team who put he match together; the Bridge at Elland fro their hospitality and our prize donations -John Naylor (butcher), Rising Sun (Caterers) and Calder Anglers Supplies.
