Comments: I have just come back to fishing after over 40 years At the moment only catching small roach & perch, but having fun.
Thanks to Phil & other members I have spoken to, who have been helpful & friendly. Replies: Hello Ken,
thanks for this. It is appreciated that you take the time and trouble to post this comment and we echo you thoughts in that the guys from Brighouse are good eggs - only the odd exception !!--stick at it and you will start to catch bigger / more as well as enjoy the peacefulness of our waters. we think that we offer the best value in the county...but we would say that wouldn`t we.!

Subject: Tree butchering
Comments: I have just got back from walking along the river section adjacent / opposite to where the landslip was half a mile east of Lillands lane Rastrick. There has obviously been a fishing match recently with pegs placed out. However, number 13 peg was placed next to a sycamore tree which has been hacked at and butchered to make room for the peg and the branches thrown into the river. The cutting has been done by someone with no knowledge whatsoever of pruning trees, as the branch stubs are all rips and tears. I find this totally unacceptable and a dispicable act. Anglers have enough of a problem with antis without adding fuel to the antis armoury by butchery trees and dumping the branches in the river. When all that was needed was to move the peg a few yards to the left from under the tree. Whoever set out that peg needs reprimanding
Replies: Hello Dean, from your description this seems to be a Bradford No 1 issue and not Brighouse AA but we may have not got it right.
Firstly we agree with your sentiments entirely.
Secondly Brighouse does not , and has not for many years, held matches on the river calder.
Thirdly although we have had two pegs on the river upstream of Avocet weir for many many years the majority are on the left bank downstream of Avocet on the old Unity length at Ganny Lock and Brighouse have never used them in matches. The right bank is called Lillands - we think this is the one to which you refer ?- and is held by No 1 and used for the calder league matches
Fourthly you will be aware that Brighouse AA has ONLY EVER used the services of a fully qualified tree surgeon for the work done on its own property.
Hope the issue is resloved and will make enquiries
